Equity Fund of the Maine Community Foundation -- Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Grants
The Equity Fund of the Maine Community Foundation is accepting
applications for its Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender grants program to
strengthen gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) organizations
in Maine and promote community-based initiatives that address GLBT
issues and needs. The Fund is seeking proposals for two types of grants
– project grants and capacity-building grants. The project grants are for smaller organizations
in rural and underserved areas to address the following priority areas:
1) access to health care and reduction of health disparities; 2) aging;
3) education to promote understanding of GLBT people; 4) equality for
GLBT families and individuals; 5) reduction of anti-GLBT violence; 6)
social and cultural community-building activities; and 7) support for
GLBT youth. The capacity-building grants are for larger
organizations to support activities that strengthen the impact of GLBT
organizations by improving their organizational capacity and prospects
for long-term sustainability. Award amounts are $7,500. Eligible applicants
include nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, public schools,
public agencies working for the State of Maine, and Native American
tribal governments.
Deadline: September 15, 2007
Please Note: The Center for Health and Health Care in Schools (CHHCS) does not administer this funding opportunity.
