The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published 2008 data on the HIV epidemic in the United States titled HIV in the United States: An Overview. While the report confirms that the number of people living with HIV infection in the United States is higher than ever, a higher proportion of people living with HIV infection know their HIV status and, despite increases in the total number of people living with HIV infection, the annual number of new HIV infections remains relatively stable.
