Two resources for providing mental health services to children of immigrants and refugees are available from the Center.  They are available at the links below or e-mail chhcs@gwu.edu to order one free copy of each.

    Report Assesses Ability of State Health Departments to Respond to Emergencies
    Whether states are making good use of some $5 billion in federal funding they’ve gotten since 2002 to improve their ability to respond to public health threats such as an influenza pandemic is assessed in a report released yesterday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

    New Resources

    The CDC has just released The Effects of Childhood Stress on Health Across the Lifespan, which summarizes research on childhood stress and future adult health and well-being.  Research focuses on the effects of child abuse, neglect and repeated exposure to intimate partner violence.  Included in the publication is information on how violence prevention practitioners can incorporate information on childhood stress in to their work.

    Immigrants: Coverage and Access to Care, is a compilation of resources available from kaiserEdu.org.  Information includes key data, policy research, fact sheets, webcasts and key organizations in the field.
