The Department of Human Services is accepting applications for its Outcomes in Children with Mild to Severe Hearing Loss grant program. The purpose of the program is to assess the impact of interventions and characteristics of the child and family on the social, communicative, and educational development of young children with mild to severe hearing loss. At least part of the study population must be children less than 2 years old.

Health Resources and Services Administration -- Maternal and Child Health Research Program (Deadline: 9/14/07)
The Health Resources and Services Administration is accepting grant applications for its Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Research Program. The purpose of the program is to support research that focuses on MCH concerns in public health systems and infrastructure, health disparities, quality of care, and health promotion. Priority concerns include oral health, the health of MCH populations on the US-Mexican border, and the use of Health Information Technology.

American Dental Association -- Samuel Harris Fund For Children's Dental Health Grants Program (Deadline: 7/17/07)
The American Dental Association Foundation is accepting applications for its Samuel Harris Fund For Children’s Dental Health Grants Program. The purpose of the program is to improve and maintain children's oral health through community education programs. The main objective of the Samuel Harris Funds is to help children whose socio-economic status impacts their access to professional oral care and adversely affects their oral health habits.

Grant Aims at 'Medical Accuracy' for Abstinence Education 
The Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced today that it is awarding a $207,000 grant to an Austin, Texas organization, the Medical Institute for Sexual Health, to develop an online program that will train abstinence education providers in "methods to access medically accurate sexual health information via the internet."

More Attention Urged to Substance Abuse by Teen Girls 
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) said today that judging by the number of adolescents admitted for treatment of substance abuse disorders, girls are increasingly using drugs, including alcohol and inhalants, and are more likely than boys to have co-occurring psychiatric disorders.
