Ask the Experts, by the Immunization Action Coalition, is a question and answer brief that provides healthcare professionals with answers to some of the most common asked questions related to the H1N1 and seasonal influenza vaccination.

Highlights and Hazards: What Do the Current Health Care Reform Bills Do for Adolescents & Young Adults? The Center for Adolescent Health & the Law, in collaboration with the National Adolescent Health Information and Innovation Center (NAHIIC) at the University of California, San Francisco, released a fact sheet that provides an overview of measures in the three health care reform bills currently in play in the U.S. Congress that are particularly noteworthy for adolescents and young adults.

The Helping Families Support Their Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Children brief, published by the National Center for Cultural Competence at Georgetown University with support from the Child, Adolescent, and Family Branch of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Mental Health Services, provides information about sexual orientation and gender identity to help friends, family, and other adults support LGBT children and adolescents.

Covering Immigrant Children: Where do we stand? Center for Children and Families Health Policy Institute. Georgetown University, Washington, DC. Caring Across Communities Conference. April 2009.

This presentation by Joan Alker, Co-Executive Director of the Center for Children and Families Health Policy Institute, reviews current and anticipated efforts to provide coverage through the federal Medicaid and CHIP programs for children, with a focus on immigrant children. Ms. Alker summarizes changes in coverage under last spring's Children's Health Insurance Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA), the Immigrant Children's Health Improvement Act (ICHIA), and various state responses to these two pieces of legislation. She also discusses how CHIPRA and ICHIA could affect health care coverage for legal immigrant children in the future.

HHS Secretary Kicks off the Nation’s Largest Campaign to Find and Enroll Uninsured Children
US Department of Health and Human Services  (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius yesterday called upon states and communities to join with HHS in its efforts to find and enroll children who are currently eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), but are not yet covered.

Chairman Miller Asks GAO to Investigate the Risk of Contaminated Beef in School Meals
U.S. Representative George Miller (D-CA), chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, yesterday asked the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the risk of contaminated beef from the commercial market entering the school meal programs.

FDA Sends Warning Letters to Companies Marketing Illegal Flavored Cigarettes
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warning letters to companies that use their web sites to sell illegal flavored cigarettes to stop marketing and selling these products immediately or take other actions to bring the products into compliance with the law.

The Center for Adolescent Health & the Law, in collaboration with the National Adolescent Health Information and Innovation Center (NAHIIC) at the University of California, San Francisco, currently released a fact sheet that provides an overview of measures in the three health care reform bills currently in play in the U.S. Congress that are particularly noteworthy for adolescents and young adults. H.R. 3962, the Senate Finance bill, and the Senate HELP bill are analyzed to identify "highlights" - provisions that would be particularly beneficial for this important and often neglected age group - and "hazards" - provisions that could be harmful to these young people.
