The Center is exploring new ways to help you find material on our web site. One strategy we’re trying is to alter our registration page so that, based on your interests, you will have a more personalized web experience. That is why our user registration page now includes a newly added “Areas of Interest” field. We hope you all register in the updated database or, if you are already registered, log in and update your information to include areas of interest. Each person who updates their information will be entered in a drawing for a $10 Starbucks gift card. We will select a winner every two weeks.

Have you taken our latest survey?
With the recent Supreme Court decision in support of ACA, we can anticipate the expansion of health coverage to more children and youth in the coming years. We at the Center for Health and Health Care in Schools are interested in gathering information about current billing practices in school-based health programs and learning how SBHCs and SMH programs comply with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Free Care rule.

We would appreciate your time in answering a brief survey which can be found at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KVVJW7D.
We will be posting the results on our website in a few weeks.

“We're still celebrating the Supreme Court decision on health care reform, but we're thinking about how it's more important than ever to make sure that billable health services provided in schools are reimbursed by public and private insurers. As a first step we are gathering information from those of you are already billing (congratulations!) or are struggling with barriers to billing. Please partner with us in sharing your experience by filling out the survey on the CHHCS web site home page. When the responses are tallied, we will post the data.

In the meantime, check out some of these state-focused financing papers on the CHHCS web site."

Influence of Smoking Cues in Movies on Children’s Beliefs About Smoking, a recent article published in Pediatrics, explores the effects of exposure to movie smoking on beliefs about smoking in adolescents. Results include that the majority of children viewed smoking unfavorably, exposure to movie smoking had no effect on implicit associations toward smoking when experiments were analyzed separately or if the results were combined, and for smoking beliefs, effects were again small and only statistically significant for social norms regarding smoking.
