Community Engagement with Families in the North Side of Binghamton

CHHCS provided evaluation services in partnership with the Research Foundation for the State University of New York at Binghamton University for the project, An Evaluation of Community Engagement with Families in the North Side of Binghamton. With funding through the Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation and with the institutional support of the Binghamton University Community Schools (BUCS) program, Broome County Promise Zone engaged in several activities to increase the capacity of both Promise Zone and the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition to meet their shared goals around family and community engagement in the North Side of Binghamton.

CHHCS worked to develop and implement an evaluation plan to assess this project, as well as other overlapping projects. Project activities for this work include:

  • Providing regular consultation and updates with project partners
  • Reviewing current literature and best practices for evaluating community engagement efforts
  • Developing an evaluation plan, including protocols and tools for data collection
  • Leading focus groups and/or key informant interviews
  • Analyzing and synthesizing evaluation data and drafting findings in a report
  • Supporting the dissemination of evaluation findings through various communication outlets
