Recommendations for Mental and Behavioral Health Improvements Through School-Connected Services

Through a grant with the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation, CHHCS worked with two North Carolina school districts, Burke County Public Schools and McDowell County Public Schools, to develop recommendations for a future plan of action to improve mental and behavioral health services for youth and their families through school-connected services.

In creating their recommendations, staff assessed the landscape of opportunities and resources for youth by collecting data on existing services and local and state organizations, held numerous phone conversations with key stakeholders, conducted site visits with each school district, and facilitated several in-person meetings.
