Engaging Schools to Support Better Oral Health for Low-Income Children, a new technical assistance brief from the Center for Health Care Strategies, discusses how states can pursue school-based strategies to improve the oral health of children, particularly those in low-income families. Drawing from the experiences of states across the country, the brief: (1) provides an overview of existing school-based oral health programs; (2) describes how to engage school decision makers and other key stakeholders in advancing school-based oral health programs; and (3) explores challenges and considerations for engaging schools, students, and their families in improving oral health.
C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health, an annual survey of major health concerns for children in the U.S., recently found that childhood obesity, bullying and drug abuse are at the top of the list of concerns, and that internet safety and sexting have risen from the 2014 survey.
Integrated Medical-Behavioral Care Compared With Usual Primary Care for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health, a recent study published in JAMA Pediatrics, is a systematic meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials that evaluates whether integrated medical-behavioral health care for children and adolescents leads to improved behavioral health outcomes compared with usual primary care.
